For Brides: Wedding Details to Bring

Wedding details are one of my favorite parts of a wedding day!  I love photographing all of the pretty details that are meaningful to the day's story.  This blog post is to help brides remember to bring all of the important things that are essential to bridal details!

Although these items might not be what you're thinking about the morning of your wedding, you don't want to forget about the details!

  • the dress & wooden hanger
  • veil & hair pieces
  • bouquets & boutonnieres
  • rings (all three!)
  • shoes
  • jewelry
  • perfume
  • invitations, programs & save the date
  • garter
  • family heirlooms
  • special gifts
  • anything else with sentimental value

As you are packing for the morning of the wedding, go ahead and tuck all of these details into a gift bag or shoe box so that they are all together.  Let your Maid of Honor know where they are when she arrives in the morning! That way, if you’re finishing your hair when I arrive, she can show me to the details instead of interrupting your hair stylist!  This will be easier on you because you won't forget anything and your photographer will LOVE you if all of the details are all in one place!!!

In addition to the actual details, feel free to include some items that will enhance your details shots! If there is a certain ribbon throughout the decorations or a special element that compliments your theme, please include it in your detail bag! These detail shots will allow your wedding gallery to flow together.

Taking the time to gather these special details will make such a difference!

Julia & Derek

I absolutely loved getting to work with Julia and Derek on their wedding day!  They were so laid back and easy going - and that makes the day go so much smoother!  Derek's goofy personality lightened the mood and kept Julia smiling all day long!  They have this goofy kind of love that you see in movies.  Their wedding was so gorgeous and the weather was absolutely perfect!  Enjoy some of my favorites from their special day:

Southern Blooms - Summers End Wedding Workshop

The second day of the Summers End Wedding Workshop started with a delicious breakfast at Rixey Manor. This venue was breathtaking!!! I loved that Rixey Manor had rolling hills, pastures and even mountains with gorgeous lighting all over the property.  We spent the entire day working on posing, consistency, editing, marketing and details.  I loved working with all of the vendors alongside the other workshop attendees!   I’m so in love with the fluffy florals, pastel color palette and of course the insanely stunning models!

Huge thank you to all of the vendors who contributed!

Copper & Candlelight - Summers End Wedding Workshop

Words cannot begin to describe what a wonderful experience I had at the Summers End Wedding Workshop in Culpeper, Virginia with the amazing Michelle Lieb!  On the first day of the workshop, we met at Main Street Weddings in Downtown Culpepper to discuss collaborating, lighting, posing, client gifting and more!

I spend my day with 5 other attendees who were some of the sweetest people!   We still keep in touch and I love seeing their personal photography style in their images as they continue to grow and share.  The night’s styled shoot was set up at the amazing Piedmont Steakhouse which was styled by The Girls from Main Street.  All of the vendors came together to create a beautiful styled table, cake and models.  After dinner, we headed out to shoot with off camera flash in total darkness!  This was one of the most challenging lighting scenarios but I now feel confident and love how they turned out!

Huge thank you to all of the vendors who contributed!

Tuesdays Together - Styled Shoot

If you follow me on instagram, you probably know that I attend a my local Tuesdays Together  meetings.  Each month small business owners come together to help eachother with the ups and downs of running a small business.  This month, our local Tuesdays Together group got together, but this time it was for a styled shoot!  All of the local vendors came together in order to collaborate and create something beautiful.  Hope and Natalie (our leaders) did such an amazing job putting this all together!  We couldn’t have done it without them.  I am so excited to share my images on my NEW BLOG!!!

For those of you who want to learn more about Tuesdays Together, you can check out the Rising Tide Society here: If you are a creative business owner in the Fredericksburg area, come hang out with us next month!!!
